What they could do is find someone gruff and well built and feral-seeming,
and computer edit them like is being done for the Hobbits in the upcoming
Lord of the Rings. Just make sure they aren't a known actor (seeing
stallone shrunk like that would be jarring and odd, for example, even
though I think he could do the job very well).

Actually duration wasn't my concern, rather her rather boring personality
and powers and background. Kitty Pryde is a much better, more interesting,
and deeper character. She filled the role of the youngster and the
constrast for Wolverine's brutal nature better by far that Jubilee.

well its been done before, Star Wars comes to mind, Alec Guiness was major,
there were a few other moderately well known actors, but most of the
players were little known at the time.

Spidey Days! Featuring Leather Tuscaderro as Mary Jane Watson Parker and
Mrs. C as Aunt May!! Potsy and Ralph Mouth as Carnage and Venom!!! Henry
Winkler as Kraven the Hunter!! An uncredited cameo by Lavern and Shirley as
themselves!! Shlameezle shlamozle, radioactive spider!!!

Could we follow up with a Hulk movie based around the cast of Gilligan's
Island? I'd pay $8 to see Bob Denver say, "Don't make me angry, Skipper. You
wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

Oh, what about the Avengers based on Barney Miller? Is Abe Vigoda still
alive? He could play Vision.

We could do that X-Men movie with the Brady Bunch. Rogue would cross her
arms and go 'Phoenix! Phoenix! Phoenix! I'm sick of hearing about Phoenix!'
We'd still have nobody to play Wolverine.

Fanstastic Four... Leave it to Beaver! "Reed, don't you think you were a
little tough on the Human Torch today?"

Alpha Flight, based on the cast of The Beachcombers!! Bruno Gerrussi as
Vindicator! Cameo by Al Waxman as a Department H beurocrat!! Sorry, this is
a reference to an old Canadian show.

I've just had a brainstorm for Wolverine. Tie Domi from the Leafs. He's
about 5'6" and beats the crap out of people for a living. He's a hard little
monkey with eyes like Charles Manson and he skates pretty good for a
sociopath. Granted, he's not as tall and good looking as Billy Zane, but we
are talking about Wolverine here. If Domi was in the movie, maybe we could
get Don Cherry to play Magneto!!

Please forgive me, but this is a fun way to chew through the work day.

Any would be interesting, but I was thinking actually of "Villain is gone,
and will not return". Reason and method is the interesting part.

My personal favorite is the end of "The Madman" in Frank Herbert's "The
White Plague", but for spoiler reasons I can't really let that one out. I'm
still trying to think of a good one from gaming.

Arnie's the right physical type, but much too old for Piotr.
If Michael Dorn wasn't black, I'd suggest him.
Tiny Ron's a very talented, and very underrated, not to mention very
large actor. (He played the giant in the Rocketeer, and is the Grand

roles that give a better idea of his ability.)
Another option might be Rod Piper (aka "Rowdy Roddy" Piper).

I know the perfect guy for McCoy. His name escapes me at the moment...
he played Vincent on the "Beauty and the Beast" TV show. He had both the
muscles and the brains to pull of that role, and he could do Hank McCoy as
well.

work for Cyke if he could buff up a bit.

All of this makes more sense if you know that the orb thing is like the
control center for the Guyver suit. I think it was in the first movie,
but the hero-Guyver was rather severely killed, and the suit regenerated
his entire body from just the orb.

Yeah. The ol' Guyver 'show us your breasts!' beam. (At least in the
manga & anime, the beam was generated from inside the chest of the suit,
so to fire it, the Guyver unit had to basically pull the chest armor wide
open before letting loose with the beam.)

Subject: Re: Villain's Exits

Well, my favorite is the end of "The Madman" in Frank Herbert's "The White
Plague", but as I won't post a spoiler, I'll try my favorite from one of my
games instead.

Some years ago, I had a villain who haunted my group for some time. A
powerful master vampire they were hunting flew down to the street and fled
down an alley. A blinding flash of light, a horrible scream suddenly cut
off, and when they reached the alley a charred corpse without a head, and
written on the wall in blood was "Only one shall rule the night".

Two _years_ later (in real time, no less), the players were temporarily
captured by their most feared enemy. They overheard an argument between him
and a quiet voice. When the villain argued to forcefully, the voice replied,
"Are you challenging me, Drakon?" "N-n-no, master." "Good. You would do well
to consider carefully before you challenge he who rules the night." By the
time they escaped, the voice was gone.

Months later, after a massive battle they nearly lost involving Primus,
Demon, and a cadre of Morbanes led by a member of the Inner Circle, the
heroes are just getting their strength back when the sun goes down. All of
the Morbanes stand up, and the leader says, "Only one shall rule the night!"
Fight starts all over again. In the end, they drive the sorcerer's
indestructible "Soulstaff" through the vampire's heart.

Some weeks later, the sorcerer (who was greatly weakened well before the
battle, long term and possibly permanently) has gotten most of his power
back. Suddenly, he appears to be possessed, and the heroes and chase him
across dimensions. They find him preparing to free the vampire from the
staff, said vampire having gotten a hold on him by returning his powers and
by inhabiting a staff so connected to him it was called a "Soulstaff". The
heroes manage to take the staff from the sorcerer, and the sorcerer's
daughter binds the vampire's soul to the staff for a climactic end to the
battle. Since the staff cannot be destroyed save by killing the sorcerer,
they trade staffs, and she uses _his_, because the vampire has no foothold
on her soul.

Now, he's a powerful sentient magical item, unable to act on his own, in the

mystic power can draw upon the staff for vampiric powers....

McCoy: He's talking about Ron Perlman, who is currently on The Magnificent
Seven on CBS.
Cyclops: How about Michael Biehn? (Terminator, Navy SEALs, The Rock,
Magnificent Seven) Or Stephen Dorff? (Blade) (or maybe Dorff's better as
Gambit...)

Back in the late 80's when I first started reading about this sort of
thread, everyone was thinking either Arnie (who's a bit short, really, he's
not even 6 ft tall) or Dolph Lundgren for Colossus... Geena Davis or Julia
Roberts for Rogue... Now, who knows?

Just so you know, I haven't read an X-title in at least 5 years, so I'm not
exactly sure who's in the lineup...

Okay, I relent. I haven't seen everything that Sly has been in but is anyone
else on this list a fan of the English comic 2000AD? Does the name Judge
Dredd mean anything to anyone? Judge Dredd required a younger Clint
Eastwood. Tommy Lee Jones would have been a decent Judge Dredd if he was a
little taller. To me, Sly's portrail of the MegaCity's #1 lawman is all the
evidence I need to cross him right off the Wolverine list.

Is Tiny Ron the guy that looks like Lurch from the Addam's Family? Did he
play Lurch in the Addams Family movies? I don't watch DS9 but I think I have
an idea of who you're talking about. Piper is an interesting choice. I don't
know if he's right for Collossus but I'd certainly find a spot for him.
Hell, I'd let him play Wolverine and not feel bad about it. It's a dangerous
thing to cast wrestlers in movies. Piper's the only one I've ever seen pull
it off. Maybe Goldberg would play Collosus. Oh! Chris Benoit! Chris Benoit
IS Wolverine in real life!!

Ron Pearlman. Yep, I'd buy Ron Pearlman as McCoy. Didn't he have another
role where he was all done up in makeup the whole time?

mmmmmm... Schwimmer? David 'Candypants' Schwimmer? I'd buy David Duchoveny
long before Ross, the weepy.

Still, though, as Wolverine? Doesn't seem right somehow.

How about this: Wolverine is Canadian, make sure to get a Canadian actor.
So...

Bill Shatner!

Hello? Are we forgetting the power of movie magic?

In the form of "Colossus" all Arnold needs is the FX computers to texturize
the skin. When he is in his "secret ID" you get someone of the proper acting
and age requirements, and have the computer "morph" between the two.

To throw a wrench into the works: for Wolverine - he has the height, build,
and moves (but not the voice yet...) - JACKIE CHAN! :>)

Cyclops: I don't know any names, but search the pool of basketball players
for one who can act, and you are set.

Rogue? Uma Thurmond. I would say Julia Roberts, but I don't think she has
the spunk

Storm: Grace Jones or Tina Turner.

Prof X: Bruce Willis

Perlman could do the Beast, and do really well. Plus, he is used to
acting while wearing a body rug.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned my first choice for Magneto,
though. Magneto needs PRESENCE, personality and style. I can think of
only one white-haired actor who can convey that much charisma - Sean
Connery.

Maybe. I'd want to see a screentest first. He can be good, but is highly
erratic.

Vincent in "Beauty and the Beast".

Duchoveny wouldn't be bad. I could just see him and Wolverine arguing in
their "tough guy who doesn't like authority vs. soldier boy with poker up
his <snip>" continuing argument.

I'd have to agree with you, Benoit is the right build, has the gravelly voice
and Canadian accentand he looks like he's been beaten on his whole life....it
would work.

As for the height problem, it's all relative, if you can get reasonably tall
people to play the rest of the team Benoit would work as Wolverine.....

Haven't seen it. Good? I think Stallone would be good for acting
purposes, but others may be better and/or cheaper.

Hmmmm. What about Tom Cruise? He's pretty damn short. Though he
doesn't fit any other aspect of the role, including acting ability.

No idea on this one, but I doubt he'd be in the movie.

I doubt we'd see McCoy, either. Though Jason Scott Lee would be my
choice.

Ug. No, Scott Bakula would be perfect for Cyke.

Unless they're going to significantly alter the character, he's way too old
for the part these days. He's also rather too rough featured, but that's
nit picking.

Also, remember that even if the film has a reasonable budget, they only have
so much budget to suck up on major players. Angela Basset isn't going to go
cheap, nor I image will Patrick Stewart.
