When Satan's goons threatened Professor Scott, father of Wayne's pretty friend Lois, Wayne slipped on an heirloom mask and slugged it out with the crooks. Before long, Wayne, Lois Scott, and reporter Speed Martin found themselves entangled in Dr. Satan's scheme to build an army of robotic soldiers controlled by one of Professor Scott's inventions. As the Copperhead, Wayne struggled to keep Scott's remote control cell out of Dr. Satan's hands, to prevent the evil mastermind from acquiring rare minerals that would enable him to create more mechanical troops, to rescue the kidnapped professor. The wily Dr. Satan stayed a step ahead of the Copperhead until Wayne succeeded in knocking the prototype soldier into a pool. When Satan's minions retrieved the automaton so that it could be repaired, Wayne followed them to where Scott was held prisoner. The pair then stormed Satan's laboratory, where they rescued their friends and plainclothes policemen from the sinister inventor's robot. Normally charming and cheerful, Wayne becomes grim when he pulls on the mask. He feels that his efforts are somehow redeeming his predecessor's reputation. Although he keeps the authorities informed of Dr. Satan's latest scheme, he has an unfortunate tendency to single-handedly tackle henchmen or enemy hideouts when calling the cops instead would be a good idea. The Copperhead relies on surprise and intimidation to achieve his aims and falls back on no-holds-barred brawling when these fail. He's tricky and has more than once slipped his hood on a captured thug to get the drop on waiting foes. When thwarted, he doesn't mind retreating so that he can clobber crime another day. As Wayne, he'll gladly cooperate with player-characters intent on stopping his nemesis. As the Copperhead, he'll be a somewhat elusive ally, trying not to stick around long enough for the adventurers to connect him with Wayne. Powers and Abilities: Bob Wayne is an athletic young man with circus-level climbing and leaping ability. Good at fisticuffs, he's more energetic than skillful and has occasionally been bested by thugs with formal training. Wayne is accurate enough with a pistol, however, to shoot guns out of opponents' hands. As the popular son of the state's late governor, he has good relations and more than a little pull with the authorities. Officials might normally frown on the Copperhead's vigilante tactics, but they're concerned enough about Dr. Satan's predations to be lenient. Disadvantages: It's tough to maintain your secret identity when you fight crooks in your street clothes, although the Copperhead has gotten away with it so far. Wayne follows the first Copperhead's practice of leaving a small copper snake with notes to authorities or on the persons of captured malefactors. He's thwarted Dr. Satan enough to have earned the evil genius' especial hatred. Height: cm (5' 8"), Weight: kg (175 lbs), Sex: Male, Race: Caucasian Appearance: Bob Wayne is a boyishly handsome man in his late 20s with wavy dark hair and grey eyes. He wears stylish two-piece suits and a fedora. As the Copperhead, he removes his jacket and tie and dons a copper mesh hood with holes for eyes and mouth. In either guise, he carries a .38 police revolver. ===== Hero System write-up by Kevin Scrivner
