Among the wreckage was the mysterious Thangarian Nth Metal. Carter Hall was an archaeologist who discovered a metal (Nth) that defied gravity. Constructing a harness with wings around this, he created a rigging which would allow him to fly. Prodded by memories of a past life (of Prince Khufu), he constructed a costume and dubbed himself Hawkman. He served in the All-Star Squadron as well as the Justice Society of America. Katar Hol (also linked in some way that I haven't yet understood to Prince Khufu) was a Thanagarian policeman who had too strong a sense of justice. He was stripped of everything and left to rot. He managed to survive and help overthrow the corrupt government. He then went to Earth to track down one of the former leaders. This write-up is of teh current (2001) Hawkman, newly returned to the pages of JSA, all past lives reintegratred.
