Appearances can be deceiving. Ernie's parents were harsh and would strike him given the slightest provocation. When Ernie failed to respond favorably to their "kindness", his parents took him to a renown psychologist, Dr. Leonard Price, for an experimental dream therapy treatment. Ernie was sedated and his subconcious mind was allowed to wander. While under the probe, he met Lady Death, a stunningly attractive personification of a primal concept, who awakened t he murderous spirit inside Ernie by declaring that she was the only one that truly loved him, and she'd love him for ever if he'd only kill people. When Ernie awoke, he appeared to be cured, and he and his happy parents left for home. Appearances can be deceiving. Ernie's parents were dead by the next sunrise. After killing his parents, Ernie systematically went down the block and killed another 35 people. Twelve more died while trying to apprehend him. Ernie was declared to be insane, and was thrown into an asylum to rot. Years later, Dr. Mary Young developed a new dream probe, which was intended to destroy the anti social tendencies in its patients. Ernie Fairchild was deemed to be the perfect test subject and, over the objections of Dr. Price, he once again was in the presence of Lady Death, who imbued him with some of her power. To the outside world, it appeared that the Neurotech dream probe exploded, killing Ernie. Appearances can be deceiving. Ernie soon rose from the dead, and began slaughtering the Asylum's guards, who also soon rose from the dead. In an effort to win the love of Lady Death, Ernie began to slaughter the residents of the town, expanding his undead army. He was eventually slain by Dr. Price and Dr. Young, who together stole an experimental Army cannon, which they used to blow Ernie to bits. But Ernie may rise again. Powers/Tactics: Ernie had two powers granted to him by Lady Death. He has become a killing machine, capable of slaying humans with a single blow. Once slain, the victims come under the influence of his second power. Anyone slain near Ernie will become an undead zombie, under Ernie's control. Ernie does not need to slay the victim for them to be subject to this power. As a by-product of being dead, Ernie can also withstand massive amounts of damage with little to no effect. Ernie has no real tactics. His usual method of combat is to go hand to hand with his victims and use the slain as warriors to increase the upcoming carnage. He will use guns if available. As Ernie becomes more experienced, his tactics will also improve. He'll begin to conduct ambushes and use his ghouls in a more militaristic fashion. Identifying Quote: Dead onez, friendz. Appearance: Ernie is a 6' tall male corpse. In life, he had black hair and pale white skin. In undeath, most of his flesh has vanished, leaving only a skeleton, although he still retains his hair. Inside his ribcage is a glowing green mass of necromantic energy. His eyes have no pupils. His costume consists of a black leather jacket, blue jeans, boots, and a yellow smiley face button which offers Ernie advice when needed. Writer's Notes: This write up represents Ernie during the "Youth Gone Wild" mini series. Since then, Ernie has suffered from 'power creep' as he's conquered the eastern half of the US and has gained the ability to actually speak in coherant sentences. He has also been seen slaughtering super heroes, movie monsters, and every thing else thrown at him. (This is also known as the Fonzie phenomenon.) Ernie has no real ranged powers, so heroes with a ranged attack and a good sense of tactics should be able to down him fairly easily. The rest will have problems though. I couldn't identify the device which killed Ernie, so I declared it to be an incindeary rocket for purposes of the write up. Ernie's vulnerability to head wounds is represented as a Suceptability rather than a vunerability due to his defenses. His ghoul slaves (stats not provided) also take this damage when Ernie is struck in the head. Enjoy.
