When her father, Dr. John Meredith, saved the life of the Mossamba chieftain Lutembi, he and Nyoka were inducted into the tribe and introduced to the Mossamba’s secret heritage: the lost temple of Nakros. Last vestige of an ancient civilization, the temple of the lion goddess contains a fortune in diamonds and is protected by Powers and Abilities As befits her background, Nyoka is a superb athlete and outdoorsman with the grace and agility of an Olympic gymnast. In the jungle she swung on vines; in America she uses clotheslines, telephone cables, flagpoles, or anything else available for propulsion. Nyoka defends herself with a self-taught wrestling method, a sort of jungle Judo. She’s also good with a knife. Her Damage Reduction reflects her ability to get thrashed during an adventure and still keep going. Disadvantages Nyoka is being sought after by both the diamond thieves and the Lion Guard. Kimbu, while resourceful and clever, presents a weakness for her enemies to exploit; an eight-year-old boy is simply no match for adult thugs. Nyoka was familiar with the several hundred members of the Mossamba tribe; the dense crowds of humanity in urban America make her feel suffocated. And despite the enmity of the Lion Guard, she still feels a responsibility to protect the secret of Nakros. Height: cm (5 ' 4"), Weight: kg (120 lbs), Sex: Female, Race: Caucasian Appearance: Nyoka is a statuesque woman in her early 20s with wavy, shoulder-length brown hair. Her buckskin dress and ankle boots are quite modest compared to what her Vine-swinging sisters in the 1940s comics are wearing, or rather, not wearing. She has a hunting knife tucked in the leather belt that circles her waist. ================================================================================ Champions write-up by Kevin Scrivner .
