She grew up in Sunnydale, California and became friends with Alexander Harris, who she called Xander. While attending junior high school she also became good friends with Amy Madison. Willow was an above average sophomore in 1997 attending classes at Sunnydale High School in Sunnydale California with her best friends Xander and Jesse McNally. One day she met the new girl in school, Buffy Summers, who asked if she would help her catch up with her studies. That night at a local club she ran into Buffy, and told her about her secret crush on Xander, ever though he only liked her as a friend. Buffy advised her to move on and try seeing other boys. This ended up in disaster when Willow decided to leave the club with a vampire. When Buffy discovered what Willow had done she followed her, along with Xander. They found both Willow and Jesse being attacked by vampires in a local cemetery. Although they got out with Willow, Jesse was taken by the fiends (Welcome To The Hellmouth 1.01). The next day at the library Mr. Giles filled her in on the history of vampires and the Slayer. Willow helped Buffy discover the underground tunnel system in the graveyard on her computer, and then helped Rupert research the details of the Harvest. That night she helped Buffy and Giles stop a massacre at the club meant to help raise a trapped ancient vampire called the Master. During the fight, Jesse the vampire was killed (The Harvest 1.02). Willow and Xander then began to hang out with Buffy regularly, and showed up to help support her when Buffy tried out for cheerleading. She discovered that her old friend Amy Madison was also trying out. During tryouts one of the cheerleaders burst into flame. After several more odd occurrences involving cheerleaders, Willow and friends came to the conclusion that a witch was cursing the cheerleading team. They had the theory that it was Amy trying to eliminate the competition. In time they discovered that Amy's mother Catherine, a former cheerleader, was trying to relive her youth by living through daughter's body. Willow and Xander bravely sought to distract Catherine while Buffy, Rupert and the real Amy undid the spells Catherine had cast. Catherine was caught in a reflected spell meant for Buffy and was never seen again (The Witch 1.03). Willow then started an online romance with Malcolm Black, but he ended up being a demon named Molech The Corrupter. Their relationship ended badly (I Robot, You Jane 1.08). Strange things then started to happen at Sunnydale High, stranger then usual. A fellow student was suddenly attacked by a large numbers of spiders and another was attacked by a deformed man in the basement. Xander had his clothes suddenly disappear in class and Rupert lost the ability to read. Buffy, Xander, Willow and Rupert figured out that nightmares were coming true. They also learned a young boy named Billy at the local hospital was in a coma after being beaten. Buffy was visited by the dream self of the boy and they tried to help him to wake up. Buffy then suffered from the nightmare that she was defeated by the Master, buried alive and turned into a vampire herself. Despite this she was able to defeat the deformed man, who was the manifestation of the boy's fears and help Billy to wake up. Sunnydale returned to what passes for normal (Nightmares 1.10). Eventually Willow came to be noticed by Daniel "Oz" Osborne, a musician who thought she was cute (Inca Mummy Girl 2.04). They were introduced to each other during the school job fair (What's My Line Part 1 2.09). Oz was shot in the arm by a stray bullet when attempting to save Willow from the same fate when an assassin for the Order of Taraki was attempting to kill Buffy at the school job fair (What's My Line Part 2 2.10). Oz and Willow attended Buffy's 17th birthday party at the Bronze together. Although she liked Oz, she still held out for Xander, until she learned Xander had started dating Cordelia Chase (Surprise 2.13). Although their newborn romance was moving too slowly for Willow, they endured learning Oz had been bitten by and become a werewolf (Phases 2.15). When Willow attempted to recast the curse that would give Angel a human soul, Oz assisted her (Becoming Part 2 2.22) Trouble started brewing when Xander helped Willow pick out a dress for the Homecoming dance, and they started a relationship behind the backs of Cordelia and Willow's boyfriend Oz (Homecoming 3.05). Feeling all the frustrated attraction between each other, they started seeing each other behind the backs of Cordelia and Oz. Willow and Xander's affair blew up in their faces when Oz and Cordelia walked in on them making out (Lovers Walk 3.08). Willow and Oz found their way back together (Amends 3.10). Willow is extremely intelligent, and an excellent student who is known for her tutoring abilities. She has helped Buffy and Giles numerous times by hacking into various records and databases, and she even taught Jenny Calendar's computer class after Jenny was killed by Angel. Willow has been dabbling in the occult, and is interested in becoming a ''bad ass Wicca''. She has successfully performed a few spells, but has been unable to turn Amy, who turned herself into a rat, back into a human. When attempting to find a way to stop the ascension of the mayor into true demonhood, Willow and Oz finally consummated their love for each other in her bedroom (Graduation Day Part 1 3.21). Willow then started attending U.C. Sunnydale with Buffy and Oz (The Freshman 4.01). Initially she was stuck in a dorm room with a rather loud roommate, but after Buffy's roommate was revealed to be a demon and left school Willow moved into Buffy's room (Living Conditions 4.02). Willow was attacked by an old schoolmate named Harmony Kendall, who had become a vampire, but was saved by Oz (The Harsh Light Of Day 4.03). Oz and Willow attended a Halloween party that was interrupted by the fear demon Gachnar, but the demon was defeated (Fear, Itself 4.04). All went pretty well between them until Oz met a lady werewolf named Veruca and strayed. Although he was sorry for his actions, he left her and the rest of humanity in order to figure out how his werewolf side was effecting him (Wild At Heart 4.06). Willow was devastated by the loss of Oz and in her despair she attempted to use magic to make her will done. This backfired and caused things she said to come true horribly. Xander became a demon magnet, Rupert was blinded and Buffy and Spike fell madly in love. She was offered to be elevated to the status of Vengeance demon by D'Hoffryn but turned it down (Something Blue 4.09). Tara Maclay attended U.C. Sunnydale in 1998 where she joined a local Wiccan group, but wasn't accepted. While in that group she met Willow, and learned they were both the only real spellcasters in the group. About that time the town of Sunnydale was attacked by the Gentlemen, who stole the voices of the whole town and proceeded to harvest the hearts of certain people. Tara attempted to contact Willow so they could find a solution to the loss of their voices, but the henchmen of the Gentlemen found her first and attacked her. Tara found Willow and the two of them were able to combine powers and defend themselves from the attack (Hush 4.10). Willow and Tara became close, and eventually became very close. Willow told Tara about her adventures fighting the forces of evil. Eventually Willow introduced Tara to her friends Buffy, Xander Harris and Rupert. Tara was instrumental in discovering that the rogue vampire Slayer Faith had swapped bodies with Buffy Summers and aided in restoring her (Who Are You 4.16). Willow and Tara's relationship started to take a romantic turn. When Oz returned to Sunnydale after learning to control his werewolf side, Tara became confused and told Willow she understood if she wanted to leave her for Oz. Sadly Oz didn't have his werewolf side under control as he thought and the wolf attacked Tara. Tara was saved by soldiers in the Initiative, who captured Oz. Oz would eventually be freed and he left Willow and Tara (New Moon Rising 4.19). When the banished hell god Glorificus was looking for her lost key to dimensions in an attempt to return home, she suspected that Tara was the key in disguise. When she learned Tara wasn't the key she left Tara with a broken hand and drained of her sanity (Tough Love 5.19). During their final battle with Glorificus, Willow was able to drain Tara's sanity from Glory and place it back in Tara. Although Glorigicus was defeated, Buffy died saving the world from a dimensional rift (The Gift 5.22). Several months later Willow cast a spell to bring back Buffy from the dead. This spell was interrupted by a band of demon bikers looking to set up shop in Sunnydale. Although they didn't think the spell worked, Buffy did return from the dead (Bargaining Part 1 6.01 & Bargaining Part 2 6.02). Powers: Willow is a skilled practitioner of witchcraft. She mainly focuses on the spellcasting portion of the faith rather then the religious portion. She can "float" small objects with great precision and cast a variety of spells. She has recently learned to form a mental link with those in her line of sight, allowing low level telepathic speech. Conversion by Mathew R. Ignash - November, 2001 (mathewignash@yahoo.com)
